Drive the volume and value of exports from South Australia by increasing the number of companies exporting and diversification of export markets through in market representation and support; e-commerce, export market development program; industry support; retailer, distributor and consumer promotions; social media and other media engagement and enhanced access to market intelligence.

Objective: Increased exports of South Australian food and beverage products.

Capitalising on Growing Global Demand for Plant Based Protein

Opportunity: Plant-based protein is set to become a $6 billion market in Australia by 2030 – presenting a huge opportunity for our grain producers.

Action: Establish a plant-based protein manufacturing sector in South Australia.

Outcome:

  • $3 billion in retail sales
  • $1 billion in manufacturing
  • 6000 jobs generated

Traceability

Opportunity: Build on our reputation for premium and safe wine, food and beverage products through adoption of anti-counterfeit and traceability systems.

Action: Identify opportunities to broaden and improve current traceability systems and see more exporters gaining internationally recognised accreditation.

Outcome: Increased demand for South Australian products through improved systems for traceability.

Drive investment in value-added food and beverage processing and packaging

Opportunity: Increase investment and capacity in local processing.

Action: Support the state’s food and beverage sector to invest in new product development, adopting new packaging solutions and commercialisation, and building and expanding capacity and productivity to meet national and export markets.

Outcome: Increase the value of food and beverage processing through new product development

Digital Trade Development

Opportunity: Use technology to engage and promote South Australian products to customers, particularly during the current period of travel restrictions and reduced trade-show activity.

Action: Support South Australian businesses to be ‘digital ready’ and to leverage in-market representation to drive export outcomes, through virtual trade shows and exhibitions, inbound buyer events, market intelligence, and consumer insight activities leveraging the DTI digital platform and in-market partner platforms.
