Dog Fence Rebuild

$25 million to rebuild the South Australian Dog Fence to keep wild dogs out of pastoral lands, reducing their impact on the livestock industry. Commenced May 2020 and expected to be completed by 2024.

Objective: Estimated benefit of up to $120 million over 20 years.

Enhancing the state’s biosecurity by implementing a zero tolerance approach to the introduction of fruit fly host materials into the Riverland Pest Free Area.

Objective: Strengthen biosecurity by changing the culture of South Australian motorists and visitors entering the state from eastern states.

To deliver productivity benefits for the horticulture industry by protecting crops from extreme weather and predators, increasing water use efficiency – and improving the quality of fruit for export.

Objective: $14.6 million in grants for up to 50% of costs to purchase and install new netting.

Marine Scalefish Fisheries Reform

$24.5 million to reform the Marine Scalefish fishery to improve the long term sustainability of fish stocks and increase the profitability of fishing businesses, by setting total sustainable catch limits for priority species and removing red tape restricting how our fishers fish.

Objective: $277 million boost to GSP over 30 years.
